School Stories

Every school has its own story.

Different children.
Different challenges.
Different communities.
Different visions and values.

Project Touchline is designed to work relationally within each unique context — supporting schools through sport, worship, reflection, and community-building in ways that feel authentic and sustainable.

Since 2018, the programme has partnered with around 150 schools across England and Wales.

Llangattock Church in Wales Primary School & St Mary’s Church in Wales Primary School, Powys

Project Touchline partnered with two small Church in Wales primary schools in Powys to explore how Christian values could move beyond words and become something children genuinely experience through worship, prayer, relationships, sport, and everyday school life.

Over a five-week programme combining Collective Worship, rugby, reflection, prayer clubs, and teacher modelling, children were encouraged to live out values such as kindness, courage, forgiveness, and teamwork in practical and relational ways.

The impact quickly extended beyond PE lessons and worship sessions into the wider culture and atmosphere of both schools.

  • Christian values embedded through sport and relationships
  • Increased confidence, wellbeing, and self-regulation
  • Calmer playtimes and stronger peer relationships
  • Weekly prayer clubs continuing beyond the programme
  • Children leading prayer and Collective Worship
  • Creation of pupil-led prayer spaces
  • Stronger relationships between church, school, and families
  • Increased parent engagement with church and community events

“Project Touchline has proven remarkably successful at Llangattock Church in Wales Primary School. Chris skilfully embedded our core values of kindness and respect through highly engaging rugby games.

Prayer Club was introduced by Chris and continues to take place every week. The children have helped create a new Prayer Space within the school and Worship Leaders now help lead both the club and collective worship.”

— Katherine Durbin
Headteacher, Llangattock Church in Wales Primary School

“The programme had a significant impact on the children’s understanding of their school values and the Christian understanding that these come from God. Many children were transformed by living their Christian values out through sport.”

— Cathryn Knowlson
Headteacher, St Mary’s Church in Wales Primary School

“Project Touchline has had a lasting impact on the character, atmosphere, and wellbeing of both schools.

I would wholeheartedly commend Chris Andrew and Project Touchline to any school that genuinely cares for the flourishing, wellbeing, and development of its children and staff.”

— Rev’d Christopher Jeremy Bevan
Priest of Llanelly, Llangattock and Llangynidr

One of the most significant outcomes was the strengthening of relationships between church, school, and families. Prayer clubs continued long after the programme finished. Children took increasing ownership of worship and prayer leadership, while families engaged more naturally with church life and community activities.

These small village schools became places of deep belonging, flourishing, and transformation when values were lived consistently through worship, encouragement, relationships, and shared experience.

Project Touchline has partnered with schools across:

  • England & Wales
  • Church of England & Church in Wales schools
  • Diocesan partnerships
  • Multi-Academy Trusts (MATs)
  • Village schools
  • Urban primary schools

Each partnership tells a different story — but all share a common commitment to helping children and communities flourish together.

Worship songs and reflective music create moments of stillness, celebration, participation and shared identity. Music is integrated into Collective Worship, prayer spaces and end-of-programme celebrations.
