Project Touchline supports schools in delivering a rich, holistic and values-based curriculum rooted in Christian vision, spiritual development and active learning.

Across a five-week programme, pupils engage with Collective Worship, prayer, reflection, rugby, cricket and collaborative challenges that connect directly with multiple areas of the KS2 National Curriculum and wider school development priorities.

The programme intentionally weaves together:

  • faith and learning,
  • spiritual and physical development,
  • reflection and teamwork,
  • and Christian values lived out in action.

Learning That Connects

Project Touchline links physical activity with wellbeing, communication, creativity, reflection, spiritual development and cultural understanding. Sporting experiences become rich opportunities for children to think, discuss and create across the curriculum.

Project Touchline contributes significantly to the spiritual, moral, social, cultural and personal development of pupils through a values-first approach rooted in worship, reflection and sport. Rather than treating these areas separately, the programme intentionally connects them throughout the school day, helping children experience Christian values in practical and meaningful ways. Through Collective Worship, team games, discussion, prayer and reflection, pupils are encouraged to grow not only physically, but emotionally, spiritually and socially as well.

Spiritual Development

Project Touchline creates regular opportunities for pupils to reflect on faith, values, relationships and their own experiences. Through Bible stories, worship, prayer clubs and moments of stillness, children are encouraged to explore deeper questions around identity, belonging, forgiveness, courage and purpose. Christian values are not simply discussed, but experienced through teamwork, encouragement and reflection on the sports field and within everyday school life.

Moral Development

The programme helps pupils develop a stronger understanding of right and wrong through practical situations in games, challenges and relationships. Children learn about fairness, honesty, responsibility, forgiveness and integrity while reflecting on how their actions affect others. Sport provides real-life moments where pupils practise respect, resilience and compassion, helping Christian values become lived habits rather than abstract ideas.

Social Development

Teamwork and collaboration are central to Project Touchline. Through rugby, cricket and cooperative activities, pupils learn how to communicate effectively, support one another, resolve disagreements respectfully and work towards shared goals together. These experiences help build confidence, empathy and positive relationships, strengthening the wider culture of the school community.

Cultural Development

Project Touchline also supports pupils’ cultural understanding by encouraging respect, curiosity and appreciation for others. Through sport, pupils explore how communities and cultures can come together through shared values, mutual respect and teamwork. Discussions, worship and reflective activities help children develop openness, empathy and an understanding of diversity within both local and global communities.

Personal Development (SMSC)

Across the programme, pupils develop confidence, resilience, emotional literacy, leadership and self-awareness through active participation and reflection. Children are encouraged to persevere through setbacks, celebrate individuality, support others and contribute positively to their school and wider community. By combining worship, prayer, discussion and sport, Project Touchline supports schools in nurturing responsible, respectful and compassionate young people equipped to flourish both in school and beyond.

Project Touchline connects faith, sport and wider learning across the school day. By linking subjects through discussion, creativity and practical experience, the programme helps children flourish academically, socially, emotionally, physically and spiritually together.
