Cross-Curricular Learning
Connecting Faith, Sport & The Wider Curriculum
Project Touchline creates meaningful links between sport, faith and the wider curriculum. Through rugby, cricket, worship, discussion and practical experiences, children encounter learning as connected, purposeful and relevant.
The programme supports:
- RE
- PSHE / RSE
- English
- Maths
- Art
- Music
- Citizenship
It helps schools deliver an ambitious, holistic curriculum aligned with personal development, SMSC and the Ofsted Framework 2025.
Learning That Connects

Project Touchline links physical activity with wellbeing, communication, creativity, reflection, spiritual development and cultural understanding. Sporting experiences become rich opportunities for children to think, discuss and create across the curriculum.
Religious Education & Spiritual Development
Bible stories and worship themes are explored through movement, discussion and stillness. Children engage with key concepts such as identity, courage, forgiveness and hope. Collective Worship and prayer spaces help pupils connect faith with everyday life, supporting strong spiritual development and SMSC.
English, Communication & Oracy
Sport provides powerful starting points for speaking, listening and discussion.
Children practise:
- Explaining decisions
- Active listening
- Respectful communication
- Exploring big questions
These experiences build oracy, vocabulary and communication confidence.
Maths Through Sport
Children apply maths practically through scoring, timing, statistics, tactics and problem-solving. Games create natural opportunities for accuracy, strategic thinking and honest decision-making.
Creative Response & Expression
Pupils respond through reflective artwork, prayer responses, team symbols and visual displays. These activities help children express identity, emotion and personal understanding while enriching school culture.
Music, Worship & Celebration
Worship songs and reflective music create moments of stillness, celebration, participation and shared identity. Music is integrated into Collective Worship, prayer spaces and end-of-programme celebrations.
Citizenship & Community
Through leadership and cooperation, pupils learn to:
- Value differences
- Contribute positively
- Take responsibility
- Participate well within school life
Sport creates natural opportunities to develop respect, service and positive relationships.
A Holistic Approach
Project Touchline connects faith, sport and wider learning across the school day. By linking subjects through discussion, creativity and practical experience, the programme helps children flourish academically, socially, emotionally, physically and spiritually together.
