“It was extremely encouraging to hear about the successful delivery of the programme within 13 Church in Wales primary schools and the programme’s creative approach to teaching values as part of Religion, Values and Ethics (RVE) through relating it to a particular religion and faith story and providing opportunities for learners to develop their understanding through playing rugby. This approach also provides an opportunity to support learners’ physical, mental and emotional health. The Curriculum framework aims to support learners develop healthy and active lifestyles which promotes good physical health and well-being throughout their lives and to understand and appreciate how the different components of health and well-being are interconnected. It is critical that learners have positive experiences of sport which helps them to value physical activity. Schools are empowered to design their curriculum to select a range of sports and activities to teach which meet the needs of their learners that are both enjoyable and meaningful.”
