Schools ministry in Western Kenya

We are excited to have formed a flourishing partnership with Bishop Joseph and the Anglican Diocese of Mumias to deliver sports evangelism in Western Kenya. On the 20 February 2024, Bishop Joseph officially and successfully launched sports evangelism at St Stephen’s, Kamashia School, Western Kenya.

School chaplains had been extensively trained by us over TEAMS during August 2023 and January 2024 with instructional videos on how to deliver the Project Touchline games and how to reach out to children through sports. We are thankful to All Saint’s Church, Bisley in Gloucestershire who donated funds for sports equipment to be sent out including balls, cones, pumps, bags, belts and tags.

The model used in Western Kenya is based on the one we use in schools in the UK starting with collective worship, before proceeding to rugby-based games designed to encourage values such as respect, trust, perseverance, and love. Prayer and developing Christian spirituality and faith is at the heart of the programme. This model will be rolled out in all of the diocese’s Anglican sponsored schools.

And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ, so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes.

Ephesians 4.11-14
