Overview
Project Touchline operates through a structured programme that integrates Christian values education with physical education (PE) and sports through Collective Worship in Church schools. Here’s how it works:
- Programme Duration: It runs over a five-week period. During this time, Project Touchline visits the school on the same day each week. Each session lasts one hour. Four classes take part when we are in school. Each class taking part has five hours coaching in total.
- Collective Worship: Each visit begins with a session of collective worship in the morning, involving the whole school. This session is led by Chris Andrew, a licensed C of E minister and Archbishop’s Evangelist. We look at a bible story and sing a worship song. the worship is the foundation and theological underpinning of the Christian values across the whole day. Everything flows from Collective Worship.
- Sports Sessions: Throughout the day, sports sessions are delivered that are designed to teach and reinforce Christian values such as teamwork, respect, courage, humility, trust and perseverance. These sessions are interactive and engaging, helping students to apply these values in a practical context. Reference is made to the Collective Worship and bible stories in particular to underpin the direction of the games.
- Prayer Clubs: In some schools, the program also includes lunchtime prayer clubs. These clubs provide a space for students to develop their prayer life and explore their faith in a supportive environment. They take place at lunchtime for 15 minutes.
- Sports Ambassadors: In some schools, the program also includes year 5/6 sports ambassadors who teach their Christian values to reception through specially designed games at lunchtime for 15 minutes.
